An update on my previous post. I figured out that I should've been putting everything on the Navigation toolbar - I had all my icons and such up on the Menu toolbar.

I am still using the add-on, and it's working fairly good, but I am still unsure of how I would ever remove it and get my Menu toolbar back!

Not very happy with this add-on. I installed it and it worked decently. But I've decided I don't want to use it - every time I start up my browser, I have no toolbar and I have to hit Alt+Ctrl+Shift+S to get it back.

I uninstalled/disable the extension and now I'm left with a completely useless Firefox. I tried the safe-mode trick about but to no avail.

Help! :) I just want to go back to how things were 10mins ago!

You get a warning when hiding the menu bar... anyway you can always get everything back by going into firefox safe-mode, about:config and looking for compact.menu.hidelist + compact.menu.hidemenubar and reset them

The UI is terrible. I accidentally removed my menu items File, Edit etc and wasn't able to get it back. After lots of tweaking I was able to recovery them. But what a pain. The feature it promisses are very nice, but it is not User Friendly with no documentation or help. BE CAREFUL when selecting your Hide options.

If there's anyone out there like me who installed this Add-On but didn't notice any immediate difference in the browser and didn't know where the heck to begin "customizing," here are the steps I followed:

1. Right-click toolbar (ex. right-click the "Refresh" button) and select "Customize".

2. Scroll part way down and select "Menu", and drag-and-drop the word "Menu" to anywhere on your toolbox (I dropped mine next to the "Page Back" icon.)

3. Now that it's in your toolbox, right-click on it (the word Menu) and select "Edit this Menu".

4. Select and click ADD for all the words in symbols, i.e. "File" "Edit" "View" etc. Click ok.

5. Once again right-click on your Refresh button and you'll notice that "Menus Toolbar " IS checked. UNcheck it and it will disappear.

Which isn't a problem because all you have to do is click trusty MENU and all those menus appear.

From one noob to another, hope that helps.

does anybody know if someone released the firefox 2.0 theme for firefox 1.5.0.8 users? I don't want to upgrade, but I would like the new look, at least to try it out. thanks!

Definitely nice, now it looks in line with the rest of my icons on my menubar instead of tiny menu which had the word "Menu" right next to all my icons. This does take notably more setup than Tinymenu.

Compact Menu, by cdn, was the first extension to do that, including the "Hide some menus" thing... it was only superseded by Tiny Menu because of lack of updates, so it's nice to see the functionality back.

Lately however I have not been using any compact menu functionality - I hide some menus with userChrome and reduce the padding/margin. Life's so much easier with direct access keys...

With such a minute difference, it's more work than it's worth to install a new extension to replace an old one, isn't it? I'll just stick with Tiny for now, I don't really need to customize my menu, I just need the extra real estate.

Since I first started reading Life Hacker; I have improved my browsing space and experience, and kindled a respect for my Media Center edition of Windows (Yougle). This extension gives my browser a very pictographic feel. I'd like to be able to replace my bookmarks in the bookmarks toolbar (now in the menu toolbar) with just custom favicons. Is there an extension for this? PEACE

You can also remove individual items from Firefox's menus with the following text added to your userChrome.css file ([www.mozilla.org]

Simply replace "term" with the exact phrase of the desired menu item (including ellipses, etc., if present).

...or if you want to remove a separator, choose the term spatially ABOVE the separator and include it in the following code:

I personally can't imagine why you'd want to stop using OS X's wonderful menu bar in favor of a little icon in your toolbar.

The words "fan" and "big" would describe my feelings towards TinyMenu, not necessarily in that order though. If this does the same thing and then some, I have the feeling that I'll be using it to replace Tiny
